Tees Valley Nature Partnership Accessibility Statement
Opening Summary
The Tees Valley Nature Partnership is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to www.teesvalleynaturepartnership.org.uk, which has been created on the Wix platform.
Our commitment to you
We want everyone to be able to enjoy and use our website. While we aim for the highest standards, we know that some parts of this site may not yet be fully accessible. We take your feedback seriously and view this as an ongoing conversation.
What this statement covers
This page explains:
-
How accessible the website currently is.
-
What we are doing to fix any issues we’ve found.
-
How you can contact us to request information in a different format (like a plain text email or large print) if you are having trouble.
We update this site regularly and aim to fix any identified barriers as quickly as possible.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and/or exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
(a) non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
While we strive for full compliance, some areas of our website may not yet meet the required standards:
-
PDFs and documents: Some older PDF documents (such as historical reports or minutes) may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content). We aim to ensure all new documents are published in an accessible HTML format.
-
Video Content: Some of our older video content may lack captions or audio descriptions. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions - Prerecorded).
-
Interactive Maps: Some maps on our site may be difficult to navigate using only a keyboard or may lack text alternatives. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).
-
Event Booking: Our event booking is managed through an integrated Eventbrite widget. Some elements within this third-party tool may not be fully accessible to screen reader users or via keyboard-only navigation. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).
-
Image Galleries: We use professional galleries to showcase the partnership's work. Some interactive elements, such as "expand" modes or specific transition effects, may not be fully compatible with all assistive technologies. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
(b) Disproportionate burden
As a small partnership undergoing a significant restructuring (2025-26), we are currently identifying areas where the cost of immediate remediation would be a disproportionate burden.
-
Historical Archive: We have a large volume of historical documents and data sets. Auditing and Converting every legacy document dating back several years would represent a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will, however, provide any specific document in an accessible format upon request.
(c) The content is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The following content is exempt from the regulations:
-
Third-party content: Content that is not under our control and is not funded by us (such as social media "like" buttons or embedded feeds from external partners).
-
Maps: Online maps and mapping services are exempt, as long as essential information is provided in an accessible digital manner for maps intended for navigational use.
-
Heritage Collections: Some digitised items from heritage collections may be exempt where they cannot be made fully accessible without losing their historical integrity.
Accessible alternatives: If you require any of the non-accessible content in an alternative format, please contact us at infoTVNP@teesvalleynaturepartnership.org.uk
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 10th April 2026. This is the first version of the accessibility statement for this website.
The assessment was carried out by Toorn Designs and formally reviewed and signed off by the Tees Valley Nature Partnership. We used a combination of manual self-assessment and automated tools, including the Wix Studio Accessibility Wizard.
Our approach to maintaining accessibility included:
-
Testing the site against the Wix Studio Accessibility Wizard.
-
Manual keyboard-only navigation checks to ensure all interactive elements can be reached without a mouse.
-
Reviewing color contrast ratios for all text and UI components.
-
Checking for descriptive alt-text on all meaningful images.
