A Thriving Future for the Tees Estuary: The New Official Home for the Tees Estuary Nature Recovery Partnership!
The Tees Estuary Nature Recovery Partnership (NRP) is delighted to announce the launch of our new web page—a dedicated digital home designed to showcase our ambitious work at the intersection of nature, people, and industry.
A Landscape in Recovery
The launch of this site marks a pivotal moment in our mission to recover over 17,200 hectares of coastal, estuarine, and land-based habitats. We are working to to celebrate the Tees Estuary and champion nature's recovery in one of the UK’s most important industrial heartlands.
As we establish this new digital hub, please note that the site is a growing resource. We are continuously adding new project data, research, and interactive tools to better serve our partners and the Teesside community.
Our Core Focus
Nature has persevered in the industrial heart of the Tees, and our partnership is dedicated to ensuring it flourishes alongside our regional ambitions. Our work is focused on four key pillars:
Landscape-Scale Recovery: We are committed to a collaborative, large-scale approach to nature recovery. By creating "nature networks" across connected landscapes and seascapes, we help reverse biodiversity loss and restore ecosystems, allowing species the space to thrive and adapt while strengthening our climate resilience.
Adding Value through Connection: To achieve our 2050 vision, the partnership connects existing efforts, fills critical gaps, and enables a “bigger, better, and more joined-up” approach. We provide a shared forum for innovation and collective action, ensuring nature is fully integrated into work, leisure, and community spaces.
Strategic Regional Support: The partnership acts as a vital delivery mechanism for regional strategies. We support the incoming Tees Valley Local Nature Recovery Strategy and work to co-develop long-term solutions for our protected sites, ensuring nature recovery is aligned with regional Net Zero and sustainable development goals.
A Legacy of Collaboration: Borne out of decades of dialogue, the NRP builds upon thirty years of conservation success by our partners and organisations like INCA. We provide the unified voice and collaborative framework needed to achieve major wins for the estuary’s unique habitats and species.
Looking Forward
A healthy estuary is the foundation of Teesside’s future resilience. By making our collaborative work more transparent and accessible, we aim to inspire a new generation of stewards for this unique landscape.
We invite you to explore our new digital home and join us in building a place where nature, people, and industry thrive together.
